Last updated 3 October 2026
This notice explains what personal data Cybercats (the website and the mobile app) collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to meet the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK, No. 6698) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Who is responsible
Cybercats is operated by the Cybercats operator, who is the data controller for the data described here. You can reach us through the report option in the app.
2. What we collect
- Account: your username, a one-way hash of your password (never the password itself), and your email address if you sign in with an email link.
- Profile: your role, skills, what you are looking for, portfolio links you add, and the times you confirmed you are 18+ and gave consent.
- Activity: queue entries, matches and your connect/skip decisions, connections, projects, peer reviews you give and receive, rank and trust scores and the events that changed them.
- Messages: the text of roulette chats and direct messages, plus their moderation status.
- Safety: reports you file or receive, blocks, warnings and bans.
- Devices: for the mobile app, a sign-in session record with the device's user-agent and last-used time, so you can see and revoke devices.
- GitHub (only if you link it): public profile statistics such as repositories, followers, stars and forks, used for your profile and rank.
We do not use advertising or analytics trackers. The only cookies are the ones needed to keep you signed in.
3. Why we use it
- To run the service you signed up for: matching, chat, connections, projects and reviews (performance of a contract).
- To keep the platform safe: moderating messages, handling reports, enforcing the Terms and preventing abuse such as rank inflation (legitimate interest, and your explicit consent for chat moderation).
- To compute rank and trust scores shown on profiles (performance of a contract).
4. AI moderation and international transfer
With the consent you give at onboarding, the text of your chat messages is screened by an AI model to detect harassment, scams, dating approaches and other violations. If you link GitHub, repository content may also be scored by AI for the portfolio part of your rank; that content is treated strictly as data, never as instructions.
This screening is performed by our AI provider, Anthropic, which processes the text on our behalf on servers outside Turkey (including in the United States) and does not use it to train its models. Flagged messages are hidden and may lead to a warning or a temporary ban; permanent bans are always reviewed by a person.
5. How long we keep it
- Roulette chat messages: deleted 90 days after the chat ends.
- Messages removed by moderation, and closed reports: deleted after 90 days.
- Reports still under review keep their evidence until they are closed.
- Direct messages and the rest of your account data: kept until you delete your account.
6. Who we share it with
Other members see what you put on your profile, your rank badge and trust tier, and the messages you send them. We use a hosting provider for our servers and Anthropic for AI moderation, both acting on our instructions. We do not sell your data, and we only disclose it to authorities when the law requires us to.
7. Your rights
You have the right to know whether your data is processed, to access it, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to processing, and to complain to the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) or, in the EU, to your local supervisory authority.
You can delete your account yourself at any time: on the web under Settings → Account, or in the app under Profile → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
8. Age
Cybercats is only for people aged 18 or older. We delete accounts we find belong to minors.
9. Changes
If we change this notice in a meaningful way, we will update the date above and let you know in the app before the change takes effect.
